The primary aim of the Center for International Economy is to introduce students to current developments in the global economy. Unlike other research centers in Hungary, our center does not focus exclusively on geopolitical and foreign policy considerations but also aims to train young experts who, going beyond the simplistic statements of the mainstream media, are able to analyse and forecast the economic processes in the region, bearing in mind the economic interests of Hungary.
Within the general analysis of the world economy, we put emphasis on the economic development in Asia. The reason for this is the fact that Asia has significantly increased its economic weight, and there has been a dramatic shift in the global political and economic balance of power, which has led not only to the formulation of a new foreign trade and investment strategy for the Hungarian economic policy after the 2008-2009 crisis but also to a growing interest among students in the region.
Furthermore, the Center also focuses on the technological competition that has recently intensified in the global economy and has become not only an integral part of the political discourse but also a central issue in public policy. In addition to its global economic and political significance, this question is also relevant to Hungarian economic policy.
